About Larkin & Lacey Frontera Fund

Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin established Larkin & Lacey Frontera Fund to support groups that are committed to promote the entrenchment of migrant rights across the state of Arizona. The journalists are also the founders of Phoenix New Times and Village Voice Media. Michael and Jim established Lacey Frontera & Lacey Frontera Fund with $3.75 million settlement money they were awarded by the Court after they were illegitimately arrested by Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County.

Their decision to sue the County was informed by the journalist’s long history of fighting for the implementation of the first amendment rights. Michael and Jim Larkin continue to use their website to highlight various issues affecting civilians and immigrants in Arizona and across the US.

On 21st July 2017, Laceyandlarkinfronterafund.org reported about the introduction of the DREAM Act and the fights that ensued following the decision. The act was re-introduced by Senators Lindsey Graham (R) and Richard Dublin (D), who have long supported the move in a bipartisan effort. Immigrants have been waiting for a lasting solution for the woes facing them.

Many immigrants saw their fortunes dwindle following the election of Donald Trump as president. The Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program was created in 2012 by President Obama to protect the beneficiaries by shielding them from deportation and providing work permit and Social Security number. Several people close to power have vowed to dismantle the DACA program.
